when I summarize this books for friends they usually respond with "but that's no psychopath!"So, of course, that might be seen as pivotal question: Is the "good psychopath" described here, "really" a psychopath? Or just a very controlled person? And the "bad psychopath" - isn't that synonymous with what we usually mean by the colloquial labeling "psychopath"?Tell you what: I don't care. This is so awesome - it helped me at once. The chapter on not being able to say no! That was for me. Thank you [...]

I have all of Kevin Duttons books and am simply a fan. I find it amusing as well as educational without being borring, overly smart or anything like that

A psychopathic, ruthless editor. A steely-eyed surgeon of style. A knife wielding wizard of words, a cunning crusader ofOk, you probably get it. The topic itself is fascinating. But, god please spare us the *alliteration*. There does seem to be an improvement in editing from Wisdom of Psychopaths we are spared the tortured metaphors of the previous book.Obviously since I read his last book, and bought this, I find the topic of what I suppose could be called "applied psychopathy" to be very intri [...]

Dr Dutton's 1st book "The Wisdom of Psychopaths" was an excellent read - despite the fact that some of the conclusions he draws are from poorly designed studies. Examples include his "Great British Psychopath Survey"This book however became difficult to read after the first few chapters. It is essentially two friends taking turns stroking one another's egos. Moreover, regardless of the construct or metric used to assess it, a "Good psychopath" is completely non-sensical. Having a cluster of dia [...]

I'm a big Kevin Dutton fan. I've read several of his books and always read them more than once! Even though I haven't yet finished The Good Psychopath's Guide, I've read quite a bit and have found it funny, interesting and useful. For me, Dr. Dutton is my replacement for all those Hunter S. Thompson books I read for years. A very talented, entertaining and enlightening author. I had the opportunity to recommend his book recently to someone who has made a choice for good over - well, not so [...]

This is a very interesting read for anyone exploring human mental performance. Dutton does a good job taking difficult to understand concepts and weaving them into everyday life. McNab is a fascinating character and is worthy of study indeed!

But disappointed on reading it. I thought the premise was great but I could not get past the self conscious and self congratulatory writing style. Still, if the writing style does not bother you as it did me, then there will be a lot of very useful information and really interesting perspectives on what makes us tick.
